He introduced and has been a pioneer developer of Endoscopic Sinus Surgery in Mexico. Throughout his career, he has specialized in developing instrumentation techniques for Endoscopic sinus surgery and stromal debridement of the inferior turbinate via nasal endoscopy, among others. He has also enormously contributed to the introduction of computer assisted Image-guided surgery in Mexico. Dr. Yanez has widely and extensively taught his surgical techniques to attending and resident Otolaryngologists in a breadth of over 50 courses around the world since 1986. He has developed important surgical techniques with the most modern technology, in helping to expand minimally invasive surgery and Eustachian tuboplasty. The most important publication on surgery of the Eustachian Tube in the world, The Laryngoscope, has specifically recognized and documented his contributions towards laser-assisted endonasal surgery alongside the most significative contributions in the 300 years of history registered to the study of the anatomy of the Eustachian Tube.
